Subway in Paris

It is reminded that a pass for public transport, from 14th to 16th May, will be provided at the registration desk.

Subway in Paris is managed by RATP (see Wikipedia Description)

Paris is divided in 5 zones (see: interactive map)

The center of Paris is zone 1 and is mainly served by Metro lines. The normal ticket of subway allows using only Metro lines.

Only RER lines serve until 5th zones (see map of RER lines). The price of your ticket directly depends the zone where your stations (departure-arrival) are. You have to buy this ticket at the ticket machine (indicating your arrival station) or at ticket office (speaking with agent).

More details on : How to use the Paris Public Transportation

Moreover, it is not possible to make metro/bus, metro/tram, RER/bus and RER/tram connections using the same normal ticket.

Somes examples :

  • From Chatelet-les Halles station (zone 1) to Denfert-rochereau station (zone 1) : whatever the Metro or RER you take, you only need a normal Ticket.
  • From Louvre station (zone 1) to Villejuif Louis Aragon Station (zone 3) : normal ticket is enough because you stay on Metro Lines.
  • From center of Paris (zone 1) to Bagneux Station (zone 3) : You have to buy a particular ticket to Bagneux at the ticket machine.
